Avatar King, The Last Love Bender
If I were the Avatar,
I would be a LOVE bender
Flooding your negativity
In a river of my love
Breaking down the base of
Your hate with my smile
Bending your soul
With compassion
Until I had
Completely eradicated your hate
and returned you back to your roots
Where we existed
Naked
In the garden
In his likeness
In love
With each other
Next to the Stage..
Mama
Look at the love poet
Daddy
Look at the angry black poet
Ooh!!
Look at the funny poet
Showing his ass
Poets pour their souls
Into microphones on stages
Spectators pay
Then applaud
In approval of the words
Being hurled from the cages
The stage
Is a zoo
It’s okay
You can pet him
He won’t bite
He’s safe to bring home
He’s housebroke
Like circus animals
Poets are tamed
Transformed from
Truthful closet poets
To farm raised performers
By promoters
Pimping poetry
To make cash
In exchange for the fame
From freedom writers
To house poets
Regurgitating the same
Words
Again
and again
and again
Next to the stage
We have “REPEAT”
Dancers and Poets (Inspired by Jack Anderson)
“Dancing is an art of bodies moving on a stage. Poetry is an art of words moving on a page” – Jack Anderson
Dancers twist
Contort
Gyrate
ELEVATE
and then gracefully spin,
In the same vain as the poets
Bumping their heads against the wall
Before dripping their soul on the page
One word at a time
Through the ball of their pen
The word
Is where the struggle begins
The unified dance of the masses
Moving to the rhythm of the heart’s beat
Is where the struggle ascends
Into change
Dancers and poets want the same thing
And that is the salvation of your soul
This routine of ours
Ain’t just another show — Sean King
