The Greatest of All…
Times aren’t different
People are,
We used to be able to sit in stillness with nothing
Knowing that we had everything we needed
Today we have everything we need
Yet sit in sadness because we want more
What more can you want
Other than a spiritual connection with your soul mate
What more can you seek
That is greater than his kingdom
What more can you have
That is more than love
Why are you willing to destroy it all
To seek that which does not exist
Love, is as good as it gets
and if you lose that, you lose everything
and instead of having more
You end up with nothing.
Forward Ever, Backwards Never
Even if you could go in reverse
Even if you could traverse the path you have previously traveled
With each and every step backwards being in sync with every forward step you ever took
Even if you could go back to that exact place
To that exact moment
You will realize when you get back to the place you once were
Everything will be different
In essence, there is no going back
Because while you were moving backwards
The whole world was moving forward
When you return to whence you came
You will only be behind
But never in the same place
My point is, while we reminisce over the good old days, ponder over lost opportunities and bad decisions, try to hold on to the memories of our ascended loved ones or our unforgettable moments, we need to maintain a constant awareness that life is intended to be lived moving forward.
It’s good to love who you were, but wouldn’t it be so much better if you loved who you are? Make it happen!!
A Love Story (10 Years in the Making)
As I reflect on what’s been over 10 years of marriage to my beautiful wife, I realized how many changes you can go through in 10 years of life. To put it in perspective I wrote a poem/short story a few months ago that I shared over the course of 10 days. The pieces are personal and the entire story is included in the anthology I’m working on… of course it’s copyrighted…
A Love Story – Part I: February 18, 2010
At the alter
tears roll down
cheeks saturated with
love’s promise
“..for better or for worse..”
Hands held sincerely
as they intensely stare into
each others’ eyes
“..for richer or poorer..”
Full of hope
for tomorrow
American romantics still
believe in the idea
of love
“..in sickness and in health..”
and soul mates
and eternity
God brought them together
in holy matrimony
love binds them to eternity
“I do”
Would the love be enough?
