Check (Freewrite #1)

You let him in
It was as depressing for you
As it was exhilarating for him

Each thrust
Left you more unfulfilled
Than the last

Finally
He exploded
Leaving your cradle of life
Dripping
and your heart cold

How could it be?

He met
Every criteria on your
Must have
Can not fail
Application for love

Every box
Filled in perfectly
Your friends
Gushed over how lucky you were
To have one another

You were
The power couple
Destined to take over the world
Soulmates
Representing everything
America stood for

Good looks
Fine education
and money

You forgot one thing
To be patient
To let go and let God
To rely on faith

What do you do
When man’s perfection
Doesn’t equate to God’s happiness?

Flash Flood (Freewrite #2)

They say, all the right words with the best intentions
Lyrical geniuses crafting poetic lines to blow your mind and to get your attention,
Low, sweet serenades of love pulsating the drums of your ear,
While they stand behind you pulsating at full attention,
Your desire to be loved makes you ignore the hands that are ascending,
Around the crevices of your breast,
Your heart vigorously pounds through the cavity of your chest
You lick your lips before producing a quiet humming moan
You slightly arch your back and scream the words,
“Daddy Bring It On Home!”

..and now she’s gone
Should have read the label before bringing his book home
Warning – A Poet’s Words Should Not be Read Alone

Flash Flood

Carpe Diem

Her smile emitted light
She was a lighthouse
Helping him navigate through the dark times

Her eyes,
Soothing
Reassuring him that it would be alright

Her voice,
A peaceful force
Calming his nervous soul

He struggled to ignore
The deception of his mind
His past
To move forward

He stood silently at a crossroad
Paralyzed by the potential danger
Looking for an affirmation
That she could be trusted

In his heart he knew
But had already been mislead too many times
In her name

Bravely
He took a step forward
and they embraced the unknown
With a passionate kiss

I Do

I Do
