We Drift

We drift

Lose focus
on what’s important
disconnect
from the essence
of who we are
take the present
for granted
waste away life
pondering,
on a time
that may never come to be

We drift

Exhaust
ourselves from the chase
of possessions
that don’t matter
covet
possibilities
that have nothing to do with happiness
lose focus
on what’s important
until one day
it hits us
one day
we lose something
so meaningful
it hurts down to our bones

We drift

Until the day
we find ourselves
on the verge of nothing
losing our grip on everything
and at that exact moment
realize,
we’re not hurt because of what we lost
we’re hurt because we are lost
hurt because we lost
the opportunity
to appreciate
what we had
took you for granted
when you were here
and instead of loving you
waited for you to wilt away
and built a shrine in your honor
cried rivers at your feet
hoping
you could hear our wails
or feel our tears,

but you had already drifted away

Left us beaten
in a puddle of guilt
broken by regret
drifting in the moonlight
on a white horse
wondering
what could have been
if we loved you then
the way we love you now

We drift

11 Steps to Peace and Happiness

The words that follow were written to the rhythm of a heartbeat, inspired by life, poured out of a soul, and given freely; not to entertain you, but to uplift you, to open your eyes, and to help US (you and I) to understand just how beautiful WE (you and I) can be if WE (you and I) choose.

1..  Thank God humbly

2..  Speak it into existence: “I love myself”

3..  Forgive yourself for your imperfections and your mistakes

4..  Let go of the ill will you have towards anyone/everyone for what they’ve done to you

5..  Start a fire in yourself and let your love spread like a wildfire

6..  Give generously and give often

7..  Give freely: Don’t keep count of what you’ve done for someone, what they’ve done for you, and don’t expect anything in return (giving is a reward in itself)

8..  Don’t get upset when your good deeds are not noticed or appreciated

9..  Live without excuses

10..  Pray honestly

11..  Thank God humbly

Origins

If you ain’t writing from your heart and soul, why are you even wasting your time grabbing a mic or picking up a pen? The crowd may love what they see when you’re entertaining, but that man in the mirror is the realest and hates you for your fraudulent behavior.
