Fearlessly and with a Smile

Tamara

I don’t see the frail body of a woman
fighting an epic battle with cancer
lying in pain

I see a fighter,
a woman refusing to give up
in the face of insurmountable odds

I see a warrior,
who even in the darkest hour
continues to touch and inspire the souls
of those still needing something
to believe in with her light

I see an angel,
with a bigger than life heart
and a fill up the room beautiful smile
kissing me on the cheek
before asking me in a faint whispered tone,
to write a beautiful poem for her……
…and I heard you Tamara

I don’t see the frail body of a woman
fighting an epic battle with cancer
lying in pain

I see my sister,
a woman of passion
pouring every ounce
of her blood
into the youth
in hopes that she can rescue
at least one child’s tomorrow
from the dark caves of despair

I see my sister,
working
and praying
to give at least one
misguided youth the opportunity
to walk God’s righteous path

I see my sister,
believing
she can help at least one kid
save their dream from the oppression
of hopelessness……

I don’t see the frail body of a woman
fighting an epic battle with cancer
lying in pain

I see a friend of 20 years,
a wonderful mother who has
always been there for her children
no matter what life threw at her

I see a lady,
carrying herself with humility
and grace
illuminating compassion
from her every pore

I see a woman,
of genuine kindness
and love
providing consistent support
even in the face
of her own struggles

I see a warrior,
refusing to be a victim of circumstance
living her life with dignity
a shining example of
how to keep your head up
no matter the challenge
you’ve been called to face

I see a queen,
giving the world
an up close and personal
look at how a woman
can serve as the foundation
of her family
while simultaneously uplifting youth in the community
and fighting her own personal battle
with breast cancer

I don’t see the frail body of a woman
fighting an epic battle with cancer
lying in pain

I see a hero
a role model
a shining example of how
our young women should approach
life…

Fearlessly and with a smile…

All I see is a fearless woman
all I see is a fearless woman
who knows God,
not man
will always have the final word…

God bless you Tamara

A Lonely Journey

Celebrate Life

No matter how many organizations you join, how many groups you belong to, how many friends you have on FB or in real life, how big your family is, or even if you’re married; you will find there are some parts of your life that you have to walk alone to get to the place God wants you to be… and it scares us…

…scares us, to think we will find ourselves somewhere beyond the reach of our family, the support of our friends, and the love of our spouses. It’s terrifying to think we might end up in a situation where even our cries to God seemingly fall on deaf ears… but it’s necessary…

…necessary for us to have our faith tested so that we can grow, so that we can become better human beings, so that we can learn to believe and trust in the path we’ve been called to walk. It’s not that our family and friends are gone, or that God has stopped listening and loving us; they’re not and they haven’t… the truth…

…the truth is on the path to our destiny, we will all reach a point of solitude and loneliness. We will all get to a point where we want to quit and consider going back to the comforts of where we’ve been because it seems easier that way. My brothers and sisters, that’s where we need to rely on our faith. That’s where we need to have the courage to take that next step. That’s where we have to know, the burdens we carry our necessary. The darkness we endure is just a small part of our journey… and if we continue moving forward, we will arrive at a place more beautiful than any that we’ve ever been… God is…

…God is not a religious concept of a being in the sky looking down at us. God is a part of all that we are and all that we do. Don’t lose focus on the way to your greatness. The journey has always been designed to break you down and build you up.

This Is Bigger Than Us

I say to you I love you,
and mean it.

Not because it’s Valentines day,
but because I do.

Not because it’s popular,
but because it’s at the core of who I am.

Not because I have anything to prove,
but because you’re worth loving.

Not with a dozen wilting roses,
but with the life from my beating red heart.

Not for one day,
but for infinite eternities.

Not just my soulmate,
but everyone in the vicinity of my soul
gets touched by it.

I love you,
as I did yesterday,
as I would tomorrow if such a thing existed.

In return,
I only ask that you don’t forget to love yourself.

I say to you I love you,
and mean it.

Not because it’s Valentines day,
but because I do. ~ Sean King
